Terms of Service
Last updated · May 15, 2026
These Terms govern your use of Thread. By subscribing, you agree to them. Please read them — they cover subscription billing, cancellation, refunds, and the photos and memories you share with us.
1. Who we are
Thread is operated by Thread, Inc., a Delaware corporation with its place of business at 3500 Piedmont Rd NE, Suite 330, Atlanta, GA 30305. In these Terms, "Thread," "we," "us," and "our" mean Thread, Inc. "You" means the account holder.
2. The service
Thread is a monthly subscription that ships a personalized activity box — built from photos, memories, and details you provide — to a recipient you choose. Once every twelve months, the keepsake binder is bound as a hardcover Thread Book and shipped to that recipient.
The specific contents of any given month's box may vary; the structure (one centerpiece, smaller pieces, one keepsake item) stays consistent.
3. Eligibility & account
You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom to subscribe. You're responsible for keeping your account information accurate and your login credentials secure. You're responsible for any activity that happens under your account.
4. Subscription, billing, and auto-renewal
How billing works
Thread is a recurring subscription. By starting a subscription, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel:
- Monthly plan ($59/month): charged on the same day each month, starting on the day you subscribe.
- Annual plan ($590/year): charged once on the day you subscribe, then once per year on the same date thereafter. Includes the hardcover Thread Book shipped at month twelve.
Auto-renewal
Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle at the then-current price, until you cancel. We'll send a renewal reminder by email at least three days before each annual renewal.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices. If we do, we'll notify you by email at least 30 days before the new price applies to your account. You can cancel before the new price takes effect if you don't want to continue.
Taxes
Listed prices do not include sales tax. We'll add applicable sales tax based on your shipping address at checkout and on each renewal.
5. Cancellation
You can cancel anytime from your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period:
- Cancel a monthly subscription before the next billing date and you won't be charged again. Your already-paid month ships normally.
- Cancel an annual subscription anytime; you'll continue to receive boxes through the end of the annual period you've paid for, including the Thread Book at month twelve.
We don't issue partial refunds for unused months on an active billing period unless the law requires it. See section 6.
6. Refunds
If your first box arrives and you're not satisfied, email us at [email protected] within 14 days of delivery. We'll refund the cost of the first box and cancel any future shipments. After the first box, we don't refund completed shipments — but we'll always replace boxes that arrive damaged or that contain manufacturing defects, free of charge.
7. Shipping
Shipping is free in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. We ship monthly via a standard ground carrier. Estimated transit time is 5–10 business days. We're not responsible for delays caused by the carrier, weather, or events outside our reasonable control. We're also not responsible for boxes lost or stolen after delivery confirmation — but we'll work with you to investigate and, when possible, replace.
8. Your content — photos, memories, and family information
You retain ownership of the photos, memories, recipes, and personal details you share with Thread.
You grant Thread a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use this content solely to produce and ship your boxes and assemble your annual Thread Book. We will never use your family content in marketing, advertising, or any other commercial purpose without separately asking you and getting your written consent.
You represent that you have the rights to share the content you upload — for example, that you own the photos or have permission from the people in them to use them for personal, non-commercial purposes.
If you cancel, you can ask us to delete the content you uploaded; see the Privacy Policy for details.
9. Prohibited use
Don't use Thread to upload content that:
- Infringes someone else's copyright or other rights.
- Is sexual, violent, hateful, or harassing.
- Depicts children in any sexually suggestive way.
- Was obtained illegally.
We can refuse to produce a box and terminate your account for any of the above.
10. Intellectual property
Everything we provide — the Thread brand, the website, the design and curation of the boxes, the templates that turn your content into puzzles and decks and books — is owned by Thread or our licensors. You may not copy, redistribute, or resell our boxes or any of their printed components.
11. Disclaimers
Thread is an activity and gift product. It is not a medical device, a therapy, or a treatment for any condition including dementia, cognitive decline, depression, or loneliness. We make no health claims. Thread is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, except those that cannot be disclaimed under applicable law.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Thread's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your subscription is limited to the amount you paid Thread in the twelve months before the claim arose. Thread is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Thread harmless from claims, damages, and expenses arising out of your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the service, including any claims related to content you upload that you didn't have the right to use.
14. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Fulton County, Georgia, and both parties consent to that jurisdiction.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If the change is material, we'll notify you by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continued use of Thread after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
